Job Overview

We are looking for an Electromechanical / Mechanical Engineer to work on Big Science and Space projects. The selected candidate will join in-house engineering Business Unit ATG EngineeringLab in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Conceptual and detailed design and verification engineering (analysis, testing) of: Remote handling systems for Science and High Tech applications incl. nuclear research reactors; Remote handling robotics / systems for space applications; In general, mechanisms and mechatronic assemblies (for coarse movement/transport and/or fine positioning purposes) in aerospace and on-Earth high-tech applications.
  • Technical project leadership; architecting role, task definition and coordination with colleagues;
  • Technical and project coordination interfacing with customers, partners and suppliers;
  • Sparring with and mentoring of colleagues;
  • Participation in strategic development and innovation activities at group and company level.


Master of Science in Electromechanical or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on electromechanics / mechatronics;
Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience with design of mechatronics assemblies and remote handled components/systems in particular;
Experience in the mechanical design of remote handling systems in radioactive environments (including remote handling manipulation in hot-cells);
Knowledge of relevant Code & Standards;
Good command (i.e., around a B1/B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) of both written and oral English. Knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus;
Experience in the nuclear, space and/or other cleanliness critical environments is an asset;
Experience/participation in project management (e.g. PMI’s PMP framework or similar) is an asset;
Teamwork skills, in both participation and leadership roles;
At least a rudimentary sense of humour is required;
Candidates must be eligible to work in EU;
Candidates should be willing to relocate to the Netherlands;
Candidates should be willing to work on-site at ATG’s HQ in Noordwijk as well as on-site at customers in Europe for short-term or longer-term work execution or coordination activities.
