Job Overview

We are looking for two Mechanical AIV/AIT Engineers on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA) for their location in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, to join their Test Support Section.
The successful candidate will have to proactively monitor and coordinate AIT activities in close cooperation with Satellite Engineering and AIT Managers, providing support wrt AIT activities, schedule and risks assessment, project reviews (TRRs, TRBs, NRBs, FAR/QAR etc), in line with specific AIT technical competences requested.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Position 1
  • Focal point for the preparation, implementation and evaluation of payload AIT activities;
  • Ensure close monitoring of the progress of industrial AIT activities;
  • Ensure the timely preparation of all qualification and acceptance tests of the PFM and recurring instrument model;
  • Analyse risks and potential work around, provide early warning of major problem areas and anomalies, ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are identified and implemented;
  • Ensure coordination and necessary specialist support from the MTG engineering, P/L, system and PA team towards the industrial AIT activities;
  • Support instrument and satellite project reviews and DRB's;
  • Ensure that the required control on the test configuration and procedures applied with the industrial consortium is following the applicable formal processes liaising with ESA PA/QA;
  • Coordinate closely with the MTG Engineering and AIT Manager and the other AIT, Engineering and PA/QA resources to ensure that lessons learned from instrument AIT are duly analysed and considered at satellite level;
  • Ensure that all specific AIT constraints related to the implementation of the instrument Long Term Storage (including associated GSE and Test Facilities) are suitably observed and implemented ;
  • Long term storage and launch campaigns support;
  • Missions abroad to support AIT activities have to be expected, as part of the duty.
  • Position 2
  • Support integration, testing and launch campaign of Galileo FOC satellites: the post holder will be a member of the FOC satellite AIT team and will work in close collaboration with the other team members. Sharing with them as a team the responsibility of supporting the production/AIT/EVT/LC;
  • On-call support in 24/7 shift with other team members might be required during the test campaign such as TVAC;
  • Actively support AIT problems trouble shooting and resolution perform AIT schedule assessment, identify associated risk, propose mitigation actions;
  • Participate to project reviews (acceptance, flight readiness, launch readiness);
  • Provide support to launch campaigns in CSG (French Guyana);
  • Missions abroad to support AIT activities have to be expected, as part of the duty.

Requirements

Master’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering;
Minimum 10 years of experience in Environmental Test Campaigns and Launch Campaigns;
Knowledge and experience on MGSE/EGSE;
For Position 1: Experience in management and monitoring of industrial activities specific know-how with regards to payloads activities;
For Position 2: Experience in management and monitoring of industrial activities specific know-how with regards to satellite constellations;
For Position 2: Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration; 
Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
