Claudia Allegranza -Claudia Allegranza - Mechanisms Engineer at ESTEC

"Since every spacecraft has different mechanisms, I am always starting from scratch."

‘In order to excel at a job and to get genuine satisfaction from it, I believe one should do something that he or she truly loves. And to speak for myself: after nearly a decade at ATG I can still state that I am doing just that. Life as a mechanisms engineer is everything but dull. Since every spacecraft has different mechanisms, in a way I am always starting from scratch. Routine simply doesn't exist. And I have to stay on top of my game: all objects that get sent into space must work perfectly.

"Both in- and outside of work there are many opportunities to socialise, exchange ideas and learn from colleagues from all over the world."

My husband and I are both from Italy – he found himself a job at ESA – and I am very keen on ATG’s team-building efforts. Both in- and outside of work there are many opportunities to socialise, exchange ideas and learn from the approach of colleagues from all kinds of cultural backgrounds. In my free time I love to play volleyball or the piano and I cannot wait to travel a bit more with my three young children to enhance their experience. But I’m also happy to dedicate some time to my role as Team Responsible for fellow engineers. Whenever a colleague faces a problem – and it doesn't matter whether it is a personal or work related issue – I am there to help. This way we can solve issues faster and in a subtler, more personal way, which helps building a nice team spirit.’
