For one of our main customers, ESA/ESOC we are currently looking for a Cost Controller to give support on site at ESA/ESOC, Darmstadt, Germany.


Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Ensure, with inputs from department administrators, cost centre and project controllers, the establishment of a yearly manpower deployment plan for all ESA permanent staff and industrial contractor staff of the OPS Directorate and Integrated Support from other Directorates charged on a time basis to OPS projects, customer projects, facilities or as management overhead;
  • Administrate and ensure that the planning data for the required planning period is properly set up taking customer requirements into account and ensure correct recording of timesheet data;
  • Ensure that the monthly manpower bookings by all staff into the timesheet recording tools are complete and follow up non-timely delivery, initiating corrective measures if necessary;
  • Support the control and financial evaluation and reporting processes by Cost Centre and Project Controllers, including year-end and plan revisions during the year;
  • Perform front desk function for the coordination of the timesheet data in the planning systems of the Agency and the Directorate;
  • Verify on a regular basis, in support to the Technical Officers of the respective manpower contracts, that the working time charged to the Directorate for contractor workforce and staff is in line with contractual arrangements and compatible with the charging structure and report deviations;
  • Perform periodic checks on the submitted timesheets for formal correctness and compliance with the plan and report anomalies;
  • Support ad-hoc analyses as required;
  • Support the coherent and complete preparation, configuration, communication and roll-out of any new corporate software tools as well as any migration or adaptation of legacy tools including data enrichments;
  • Support the planning, review and re-planning processes and the monthly reporting of mission travel costs and mission pipelines, within the specified format and deadlines, provide special reports on request by ESA and support ad-hoc analyses;
  • Support the update and release of the directorates workforce data including contractor and staff data in data repositories, maintain organigrams, and deliver reporting data to OPS-B;
  • Support the controlling processes in ERP systems used by the directorate, by preparing, entering, releasing and following-up the creation of data objects (e.g.purchase orders), master data change requests and maintaining and updating directorate specific financial datasets including asset accounting;
  • Support the generation of executive management reports and the processing of VIP visitor requests to be approved by OPS-B.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Economics, Financial Management or Accounting or equivalent from a recognized university,Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience;
  • Proficient in the English German language both written and spoken;
  • Knowledge of another official ESA language (French in particular) is an asset;
  • Highly proficient with modern electronics office automation Tools in particular Microsoft Office suite and ERP systems (SAP);
  • Very organized, structured, excellent interaction with customers with adequate communication;
  • Familiarity with ESA working environment in a similar position is a distinct advantage.
